080. Accountability WILL make you rich, if used right.

 We are in a world of pointing fingers, "It wasn't my fault, it was so and so's". The reality is you are the one at fault. Everything, outside of the uncontrollable, is your fault. As a landscaper, if you see there is rain in the forecast and you don't pull some lawns on the schedule early, or add some to the end of the week to balance the schedule you will have some very upset clients and you are to blame. Not communicating to the client is your fault. Not sending out that estimate in a timely fashion, is your fault. If you take accountability, it triggers something in your brain to fix it and make it better. Take some accountability today.

079. OVERTIME IS KILLING YOU!!

Overtime has many more facets to it than one person might anticipate. When you look at a overtime from an owners perspective not only is it more money paid out to employees, but it's a liability of the guys on a job site longer. That increases the ability for fatigue and a foggy headspace to allow mistakes on the jobsite. There is then the insurance that gets expensive quicky as well. Insurance audits costs companies $1000.00's with overtime because the policy has to be adjusted. Then you have taxes, everyone's favorite! The taxes also need to be calculated when overtime is added. So next time your guys ask, think again, but also think about how to give them more money with better equipment or efficiencies to make them worth more.
